Veteran BPD officer retires

BURLESON – Burleson Police Officer David Wardlaw, a 15-year veteran with the Burleson Police Department, formally retired on Sept. 28.
He had served as a traffic officer for three years and as a community resource officer since 2013.
Officer Wardlaw built countless relationships between the police department and the community, officials said.
His deep commitment to serve all of Burleson led him to begin the department's Guardian Program, which assists residents with special needs family members during times of crisis, according to officials.
"During his time on the force, Wardlaw was awarded multiple community service awards, a Life-Saving Award, and the Medal of Valor," according to a statement from the city. "In 2014 he was named Officer of the Year and last year he received the Community Policing Award. We are thankful for all of his years of service and his dedication to Burleson."
